Tips of Travel Vacations in kolkata !

Digha is the queen of all tourist spots in West Bengal as far as coastal beauty is concerned. Located at a few hours distance from Kolkata, the capital of the state, Digha is a spot that remains thickly crowded with tourists almost throughout the year.

The sea beach of Digha is stretched over miles and connects the Old Digha with New Digha. In Digha, the sea starts about a mile from the beach and so one can walk through the soft golden sands on bare foot. Enjoy the beauty of the casuarinas (popularly known as jhaubon) that encircles the beach and creates a wonderful backdrop during the sunset, feel the gentle refreshing sea breeze, dodge the small waves and stretch your hands on both sides to take a fresh breath.

Swimming in the sea is something that one will surely enjoy in Digha. You can go for swimming in either beach of Old Digha and New Digha. Majority of tourists opt for swimming in early morning, as the flow of the water remains less and the height of the waves remain low due to low tide.

Located in the district of East Medinipur, Digha is 187 Kms from Kolkata. Earlier buses and cars were the only options for people to reach Digha from Kolkata, but recently Indian railway has connected it with Kolkata, making the journey even more comfortable. Buses for Digha are available daily from Esplanade and Goalpark and the train leaves from Shalimar railway station. Two trains run between Digha and Shalimar daily. One leaves at 8 in the morning and the other at 5 in the evening.

Apart from its coastal beauty, breathtaking view of sunrise and sunset on the sea, Amrabati Lake, Junput Beach, Mandarmani Beach, Shankarpur Beach and Chandaneshwar Temple are the other tourist attractions in and near Digha.
